My name is Robyn McFaul, a relative of a resident at an Aged Care Facility in Brisbane where Denise was the clinical nurse for some 9 years. I have known Denise through the Aged Care Facility for several years. Denise is an outstanding nurse who is very knowledgeable, passionate and efficient in all her duties as a nurse. Denise’s door was always open and she took the time to get to know my family and the needs of my mother which gave me the confidence to go on an extended overseas holiday last year knowing that Mum was well cared for. I highly recommend Denise who is now part of the Maroon Care Leadership team giving quality care to the elderly and disabled.

Denise Gluer is a registered nurse who I, as a GP, have worked with at the Residential Aged Care Facility, Bellevue, in Ferny Hills for the last 9 years. She was employed as a Clinical nurse, supervising junior nurses and carers, liaising with hospitals, doctors and allied health professionals and communicating with residents’ families. She brought to the job a wealth of experience in hospital nursing, army nursing and aged care nursing. What impressed me about Denise were her four strengths:
• Competence – I had complete confidence in Denise’s ability to assess a patient, contact me when necessary and carry out my recommendations.
• Care – Denise had a very good grasp of residents’ needs. Also, she would stop what she was doing to attend to a resident who needed attention promptly.
• Compassion – Denise was tuned in to residents’ suffering and needs.
• Coordination – Denise was skilled at coordinating all those involved in the residents' care.

It was a pleasure to watch a skilled health professional at work. I can also say that the positivity and sense of humour she brought to the job eased the burden of suffering of the residents at the end of their lives. It also buoyed up the other staff at the Aged Care Facility. I can highly recommend her to anyone needing the services of an Aged Care Nurse.
